Joshua Tree National Park

Tim and I spent the day after Christmas at Joshua Tree National Park.  The landscape was very beautiful, with giant rock formations and twisted joshua trees.  The late afternoon and evening sun provided great picture-taking conditions.  Unfortunately, I couldn't get any good star shots because there was a full moon and it was really windy.

 This is what the sky looked like when I went out to the beach, outside our hotel, to watch the sunrise.

 I think this picture is my favorite.  If you look closely, you can see a star still, toward the top center of the picture.

Colors of Belize and Guatemala

I must admit I was amazed by all of the colorful buildings in Belize and Guatemala.  Below are some examples from both places.

 This photo is from my camera.  The animal is a coati. (It's in the raccoon family.)  There were a lot of them hanging out when we first got to the plaza. 

Potomac River in Late Autumn

I so wished I could have climbed down the rocks and gotten more level
with this beautiful scene, but even from up high I found it a breathtaking sight.
